Ingredients

For 1 serving

  • 30 g (1 scoop) vanilla or unflavored whey protein powder
  • 80 g (about ⅔ of a medium banana) frozen banana slices
  • 30 ml (1 shot, 2 tbsp) espresso or strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 50 g (3½ tbsp) cream cheese
  • 50 g (3 tbsp) Greek yogurt
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • A little grated dark chocolate or fresh fruit for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Brew the espresso and let it cool for a few minutes, so it does not melt the frozen banana.
  2. 2Put the protein powder, frozen banana, espresso, cream cheese and vanilla in a blender. Blend until thick and smooth, scraping down the sides once or twice.
  3. 3Add the Greek yogurt and stir it in gently with a spoon.
  4. 4Pour the shake into a glass or bowl and top it with a little grated chocolate or fruit if you like.

Tips

  • Peel ripe bananas, slice them and freeze them in a bag, so you always have some ready for shakes.
  • The shake is very thick. If your blender struggles, add a few spoonfuls of milk or cold water.
  • Light cream cheese saves about 75 kcal.
  • Toppings are not included in the nutrition values. 10 g of dark chocolate adds about 60 kcal.
  • Use decaf coffee if you make it in the evening.
